The date for the opening ceremony has not yet been set. A good guess would be Saturday 29 May 2010 however check here in a few months for more updates.
Who will be the official guest of honor during grand opening ceremony of the 2010 World cup in South Africa?^
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, Desmond Tutu and FW De Klerk will be present for the grand opening ceremony of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, making it the first time three Nobel Laureates present for a FIFA World Cup host country announcement. Remember they also made the world history to be present for the announcement that Sout Africa will host the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
This is yet to be confirmed.
