Come and include the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in your South Africa-Botswana safari. This is the protected area in the southern Kalahari Desert. The park has a combined area of 38,000 square kilometers of which 28,400 square kilometers lies in Botswana and the reminder in South Africa.
The significance of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is that it is the first formally declared Transfrontier Park in Africa .Both the governments of Botswana and South Africa are very keen to make the Transfrontier Park a great success. Also the Peace Parks Foundation (an NGO dedicated to promoting transfrontier parks in southern Africa) has played an important role in the development of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park and provides assistance for the creation of other transboundary conservation areas in the region.

Best time to visit
The annual rainfall is about 200mm mainly between January and May with the summer daytime temperatures as above 40 degrees Celsius in some days. Thus the best time to visit this area is during winter period, from May through August when it is mild and sunny.
