Arusha National Park is spectacularly set between the two huge volcanic peaks of snow-capped mount Kilimanjaro and rugged Mount Meru. With its Ngurdoto crater that makes the park to resemble Ngorongoro crater. Among the attractions of the often underrated Lake Manyara National Park are it’s superb birdlife, its elusive tree climbing lions and abundance of hippos which you can observe at a closer range here that at any other place. Ngorongoro crater is one of East Africa’s most visited destination. At about 20 km wide it’s also one of the most calderas in the world. It has an outstanding variety of animals and vegetation, including grasslands, swamps,f orests and rich bird-life. It is regarded as a natural wonder of the world (the 8th) and has been declared a World Heritage Site. One of the spectacular and unique events of the year is the Serengeti annual migration, which takes place heading north to south October November and back south to north between the months of April and June. This has been described by many as one of the greatest wonders of the world. There is no fixed time for migration; the animals migrate according to rainfall patterns. Located in the Rift Valley, not far from the eastern shore of Lake Manyara, Tarangire covers almost 2,600 square kilometers and contains nine different vegetation zones, each supporting distinct types of wildlife. Tarangire National Park has the highest number of elephants in the whole of the northern Tanzania, also zebras, wildebeests and eland. |
